Descendants of Henry and Betsy Willstrop

1 Henry Willstrop b: 1814 in Birmingham, England d: December 10, 1894 in 57 Guest Street, Birmingham aged 81; Baptised December 29, 1828 at St Philip's, Birmingham.

Henry married Betsy Timpson on November 17 1835 at All Saints, Birmingham.

In 1840, when his second child, William Henry, was born Henry was a tailor and the family were living at 166 Warston Lane, Birmingham.

Betsy died on July 31 1874 and Henry remarried on October 5 1879 Elizabeth Burnham (nee Hopley), a widow of Smethwick.

It is possible that the Betsy Willstrop photographed on the left is Elizabeth (Hopley), second wife of Henry. Previously it had been assumed that it was Betsy (Timpson)

1. Betsy Willstrop baptised September 12, 1837 at St Phillips, Birmingham (Betsey). Betsy married Alfred Harrison July 7 1867 in Aston.

Betsy and Alfred had a daughter, Gertrude Harrison b: 1869

2. William Henry Willstrop b: January 5, 1840 Birmingham, Warwick and baptised: June 15, 1840 Saint Philips, Birmingham.

No evidence that William married.

3. Thomas Willstrop baptised on December 27, 1842 in St Phillips, Birmingham; married Ann Jane Warbrook on May 18 1869 at St Mary's, Wolverhampton; buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Brooklyn, New York, USA. At the time of his marriage Thomas lived at 37 Canal Street, Birmingham.

Children 1. Winifred Willstrop married a Mr Jones on September 1912 at Salford. Winifred had a daughter Winifred Gertrude H Willstrop b. May 12 1908 2. Flora Willstrop b: June quarter of 1865 in Birmingham 3. Thomas Gordon Willstrop b: September quarter 1867 in Birmingham. Thomas married Lilian in September quarter 1899. Their son, Gordon Thomas Willstrop was born in June quarter 1904. Thomas d: 1943 in Worcester, Worcestershire, England. Lillian d. December 1922 in Lichfield, Staffordshire. 4. Dora Eveline Willstrop b: 1871 in Birmingham 5. Robert Edgar Willstrop b: October 28, 1873 in Birmingham d: July 8, 1946 in Alameda, California, USA. Robert married Annie Epperson, nee Shannon b. Lichfield 1880 6. William Henry Willstrop b: October 26, 1875 in 54 Prescott Street, Birmingham. No evidence that William married. 7. Ann Jane Willstrop b: February 28, 1878 in Birmingham d: in Tampa, Florida Ann was baptised: May 8, 1890 St Saviour's, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England 8. George Willstrop b: June 1880 in Birmingham, Birmingham. George married Florence Gertrude Eldershaw in December 1914

2 Frederick W. Willstrop b: March 1845 d: December 1922 in Ludlow, Shropshire. Frederick married Sarah Smith on August 23, 1873 at St John's Church, Leeds. When they married Frederick was working as a lapidary.

1. Frederick William Willstrop b: July 9, 1874 in Sea Gate, Long Sutton, Lincolnshire. By August 2, 1874 when his birth was registered he was at 33 Northampton Road, Clerkenwell, London. Frederick married Annie Elizabeth Edge in Ludlow. 3 George Willstrop b: March 8, 1876 at 126 Corporation Buildings, Holborn, London d: May 4, 1923 in The Royal Portsmouth Hospital, Portsmouth, Hants. George married May Clarke in the June quarter of 1902 at Portsmouth. 3 Rose Willstrop b: March 1878 in Holborn, London, England d: Abt. 1914. Rose married Samuel Jordan at the Parish Church in Ludlow on April 17, 1900. She was living at that time in Old Street.

2 George Timpson Willstrop b: 1847 in Birmingham d: Aft. 1909. George married Mary Ann Bluck on May 31, 1873 at All Saints, Birmingham. On October 18, 1879 when his daughter, Florence, was born he was a Railway Policeman and the family were living at 133 Highgate Road, Kentish Town, Middlesex.

3 Florence Gertrude Willstrop b: October 18, 1879 at 133 Highgate Road, Kentish Town, Middlesex. Florence married Frank Ward on May 30, 1909. She was living at the time at 7 Handsworth New Road, Birmingham. 3 George Stephen Willstrop b: July 8, 1884 in 2 Burt's Cottages, Canal Bank, Camberwell, London d: June 1949 in Birmingham. George married Lillian Cox.

2 John Harvey Willstrop b: January 16, 1850 in 165 Icknield St, Birmingham at 9.55pm on a Wednesday. He died December 17, 1927 and is buried at Harehills Cemetry, Leeds. John married Emma Hume on Thursday January 16, 1879 at the Parish Church of St. George, Leeds. John's occupation at his marriage was given as a tailor although he had joined Leeds City Police Force on February 19 1875 and retired on April 4 1901. After 1901 John worked as a Timekeeper in Hull. When John and Emma married they were living in Greatham, Durham; in 1881 their home was at 20 Hartwell Street, Leeds and in 1886 there address was St Mark's Villas, USD, Leeds.
