An highway engineer at Mouchel's Northallerton office has become the
first female to gain Chartered Engineer status via the Institution of Highways
and Transportation (IHT). This new route to becoming a recognised Chartered Engineer
was established in 2001 and has since enabled 30 plus engineers to qualify.
Alison
Wilstrop, who has 12 years experience in highways design, development and
infrastructure projects, comments: "I decided not to go down the traditional
Institute of Civil Engineering route because the IHT route looked simpler. The
process took me just two months to gather the relevant information together and
the IHT were extremely helpful throughout."
Alison has worked for
Mouchel within its Northallerton office for just over two years and advises clients
such as the Highways Agency and North Yorkshire County Council on motorway schemes,
town centre refurbishments and trunk road improvement schemes. She previously
advised on development and infrastructure projects in Cardiff, South Wales.
